Brand new, standard Renault shocks making noises

  2003 Clio 172
Right guys, posted this before buts its starting to affect my happiness now.

Has anyone on here replaced their front shocks with brand new items from Renault lately?

If so, can you please go out and push up and down on your wing and tell me does it make a loud piston noise?

I have read about a-lot of people saying its a good noise but honestly, its driving me crackers and I have never heard any car making it to this extent. I can hear it in the car from both sides up front. it makes the car sound broken. They seem to work fine but are just very noisy.

FYI, I have replaced shocks in MANY cars.....not one has made a noise that you can hear when driving.

can anyone advise?

Cheers
j

FLOL! brilliant......that's it :)

So that's normal? That is shut. The car sounds more broken than with broken shocks :S

I've always assumed its normal.

Its the sort of noise mountain bike suspension makes if you push it down.

I only hear it over speed bumps or other big drops. It doesn't do it under normal driving.

Could it be the shock absorber gaiter causing the noise around the shock piston, as I assume these are a new set they will be a good seal and it could be the air passing out as you go over bumps etc, they should have holes in them to let the air pass out.

Regards Russ.......
