you won't see a physical speed increase instantly when you plug into the master socket, i just want to know the sync speed.

it will take 3 days for your speed to rise again.
sorry to sound stupid:eek: do i just do the speed test again?

at master socket!

The speed test has completed on test server speedtester1.nat.bt.com for user 01490....... and you have downloaded a 1.7Mb file at a speed of
/images/icodownl.gif 294 kilo bits per second (Kbps), your service bandwidth will have been quoted to you in kilo bits per second.
Your IP address is 81..........., your browser is reported as being Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 and is running on Windows XP.

Your downstream Attenuation is fairly (verging on very) high which would suggest a long physical line length and/or a noisy line and the SNR is just above the threshold to remain connected
.

when you say noisy line, what does that mean??

Background noise that would affect the signal. Poor joints, bad connection in the street cabinet, aluminium spliced into the line etc..

You have already performed a test within the last 30 minutes. Please come back later and retry your test. Constant attempts to retest will be logged by the system and may be reported to your ISP. You may next perform a test on Tue Jul 25 21:32:16 2006

you still haven't given us your line stats when plugged into the master socket.

as i mentioned before, even if you do sync higher, you will have to wait 3 days of solid sync at that rate for the BRAS to update.

Attenuation is still relatively poor (i.e hasn't improved while not the cause of any problems) and SNR is only higher (better) due to the lower sync rate so as a result I think we can safely say that extensions/extension leads aren't the problem.

Probably the best thing to do. MTU can cause problems with MSN messenger and other apps but (and no offense) I think that's a bit complicated for your average user to mess with.
