I would buy it as this car of Brett's is well cared for and documented.
In original paint it would fetch top money, there's always going to be people saying it's had a crap respray job and that's devalued it, but IMO the paint colour choice lessened the devaluation.
100% mate, totally agree. Any other colour obviously wouldn't have had the same effect and would have ruined the car but fair play for doing that.

Silver is crap anyway! ;)
True. Although thats mainly due to the fact that i bought the best coloured V6! ;) I'm not a huge mk1 fan in silver!
I hate silver but i'd rather have a standard car.

CBA reading the whole thread... what colour was it? Mars?
Silver.

the car had just come out of a paint shop befor it came up to me and was taken apart ie doors off bumpers removed wings removed tail gate removed etc then it was preped for paint,i worked on this vee for around 18 hours a day to get it done in time and the owner and all the people at fcs that came and looked at it loved it
dont no what your problem is ali like i said last time when you had a go at me i dont no you i have never met you and all you can do is **** my work off
you need to move on ali back to v.net along with some of the other tools you "love" on there.
there are some nice people on that site but peolpe like ali are just out to make waves see you at a meet one day and we can talk dude just so i no what it is with you!

Oh handbags!

It was his opnion, i'm guessing we're not allowed an opinion because you worked so hard?

If the paintwork wasn't perfect then the timescale/price is to blame. And the painter shouldn't have taken the job on there has to be compromise somewhere.

If there was runs as Ali said then i'd be embarrased still and if I was the owner I wouldn't have expected perfection from a 5 day 1.5k respray.

As I said you get what you pay for.

Cheers mate sorry.

You made it sound like we weren't allowed an opinion because you did the job. I'm sure the owner is happy.

Hi I'm Brett....the owner and seller of this "bent", non "straight" clio v6.

Reason for painting a rare car in Nocturne???..............Installing a 350-400bhp turbo engine, uprated non reno box, different management, coilovers, pre production split rims reno used to test the v6, Full Sabelt clio Cup interior, Trophy wing, Trophy splitter and half cage is hardly shouting original to me. So what would have been the point in spraying it in something boring like silver or the like?? Also the car was never in the best of condition when i first got it. Both bodywork and mechanicals needed looking at. The history I have with the car is quite comical looking back at it but I assure anyone who doesn't know about it....99.99% of people would have sold it and cut their losses. Ive actually got a thread on v6clio.net called "Can't polish a turd??.....yeah right!". So anybody commenting on how much I've devalued the car because I've changed the paint code on it should get to know its history before hand. The car is NOT "bent" in anyway shape or form either. You may think your buying "straight" cars because they are in their original colour but I know of a few that aren't and look great until you get the DA'er on them. Also there are no runs in the paintwork anywhere and never has been.........swirls from my s**tty polishing skills maybe but this was not done in the paintshop. More so on my own driveway. These are off the car by the way now as would have been the runs if i could spot them!

By the way, the car is up for sale at the moment. This is because i'm after a rather special vee. One that no paint job or fancy engine will ever make mine. I never sprayed the car with its value in mind as I've always intended to keep it. So in reality, who and why should anyone care if its now worth £150 or £150,000???

Thanks

Pardon my ignorance, but no one in here has ever mentioned your car being bent. We have expressed opinion on your colour of choice. No one ever said it was bent.

I have no problem people not liking the colour at all fella, not in the slightest. Saying "I'd rather buy a "straight" one" sort of insinuates it's bent though don't you think?

I can see why you read it like that, but the way I read it was they would rather buy an original one, which i'm sure that the masses would rather do that. I like the colour, but would never buy it because it isn't original Renault spec. If i'm buying a vee personally i'd want all the Renault Sport heratige that comes with it. IMO you painting it and all the other bits and bobs, it has lost its appeal.

On the flip side, I can see how it would appeal to other people; Just not me personally!

That is fair enough. Each to there own.

So to all the v6 owners out there......

Take your splitters off, put your cromodoras back on fleabay, remove the uprated coilovers if you have them and don't forget to put the original back box on......if you don't you'll never sell it!
