Broadband dropped from 8meg to 1.1?

Im on orange broadband, upgraded to 8 meg last year and usually ran between 7-8 mbps.

Ive just moved to anew house about a month ago and had broadband transferred over, was told line could support upto 8meg. But it wont go any higher than 1.1 mbps?

Have cheked connections etc... all seem fine, can't get through to orange as all they're hepl pages seem to be down.

It might just be due to the lengh of your line from the exchange. ISP's will often say that the line can support 'up to' 8mb, but it just means that you can get adsl on the 8mb package, not the speed you can get.

Type your phone number in here to see what BT suggests is the best speed you can get.

The filters Im using are the same ones I used before I switched house and was getting me 7-8

The BT line test is showing 6.5?

I dont want to call a BT engineer out to check the wiring unless I really have to as they charge extortionate rates!

Go here and do an actual speed test.

Not accurate enough. They only tell people major problems with the exchange.
