alright guys, i bought a phase1 172 towards the end of last year and loved it, but when we had all the heavy snow i hit a kirb and bent the rear beam/stub axle, the car drives alright but is slightly twitchy when hitting bumps

Also one day when i started the car it wouldnt hold its own idle when cold, i didnt have the money to look at it or the rear beam and just carried on driving it for work because i needed to. over time the car ran rougher and rougher untill now its over-feuling quite bad now and doesnt sound too healthy.

because i needed a car for work i ended up getting a cheap audi a4 as a runabout but the clio's just sat there doing nothing....what do you think the best thing to do with it is??? dont realy want to have to break it, duno if it would be worth selling it as is, if someone would buy it how it is???

any ideas, cheers guys

Tom

sell it to me for dirt cheap??!!

sounds like it could just be missfiring which wont cost the world to sort out and get a new rear axel and get that put on, again may only be a few hundred quid of a job which will get you more money for it if you want to sell it.
imo its not worth much as it is as its technically a non runner...

You'd be best off repairing it tbh, as above things dont sound too bad. And it starts and turns over!

  Maybe a 172 Cup..
Could be a lot worse mate. Mine is sat on drive with suspected cambelt failure, don't know what to do with it. Just done SORN..:dapprove:

Hang on. It had a bent stub and a missfire, and you couldnt afford to fix it........... so bought another car?

where's the logic in that?

x2

You can get a full rear beam for about £150, and with the idle problem just put it on the diagnostics? It'll take 2 minutes and probably £10 for their troubles to find out what it is.

FIX IT! And how come you can't afford to fix the Clio but went and bought an A4??????????:slap::slap::slap:

right, cheers for the replies, the car ran out of mot around the time it went wrong and needed a car for work straight away so i borowed the money for the a4, which was cheap. rather than fix it.

i tried for two rear beams on here and got let down both times, and the cars just getting forgot about now

my mate put it on the diagnostic for me at renault but couldnt find anything, ive change a few injectors and plugs to be sure.

timmy im in colchester in esses co2, pm me if your interested mate. its got no tax or mot, 73k standard apart from wheels.

i duno mate, i couldnt let it go for less than £1000, iv still got a year left on a loan for it which is more than that, but im gona just take it on the chin...

You'll be lucky to get any more than £6-700.

You can buy a running one for £1200!

Yours has no tax, no MOT, bent rear beam and doesn't run.

  Maybe a 172 Cup..
I'd probably be around that figure (£600) if I decided to sell mine. No tax/mot and non-runner, suspected cambelt. Wouldn't take any less.

You probably wouldn't get that much I'd say. Even a cheap second hand engine is £350, so you're still looking at the best part of £1k if you do the work yourself. Pointless when you can buy running ones for that!

Would it not be worth £600 to someone planning on breaking it even. Interior is vgc, Milltek cat-back etc....
