Broken 172 cambelt

Im looking at a 172's and there is one where the owner has said that he had some problems with the cambelt initially which were sorted with Renault. They replaced it under warranty and he says there was something wrong with the pulleys etc. A slight design fault ( i think he meant a dodgy part) . The car has sub 30k miles on it and seems to be in good nic.

Should i be put off or go for it? (tis cheap )

I had the pulleys replaced on mine sametime as cambelt. It was making a ticking noise when idleing cold.

I wouldn't worry as long as it has a reciept.

`Just spoke to him again and he said was a dodgy bracket for slave pulley which caused some top end damage. Which had been rebuilt by Renault!!

Nothing to worry about if he told you and it's all documented!

Fair play to the guy for telling you too.

taking a bit of a wage cut at work for a year so cant justify mortgage/ Vee/ other car and petrol tbh. I was filling 2/3 tanks a week:dead: lol.
Amazing cars tbh pure posing power.

I would go for it m8, as said if its documented as well all the better, I'd find that sort of honesty encouraging when buying a car :approve:

My housemate is buyin your vee :cool: our driveway is gonna look mad:rasp: will look sweet next to my valver (which is absolutely immaculate btw:cool: ) Be assured its goin to a good home :approve:
