BTB STAINLESS EXHAUST FOR 172 CUP

  renault clio 172 cup
Hi,
Have just had fitted a cat back BTB stainless exhaust to my clio 172 cup. I have found the exhaust to be rather noisy as i was lead to believe that it was a near to standard noise wise.
Have any of you got a BTB stealth fitted to your 172'S /182'S??
If so what do you think of the noise level?

Well put it this way... I took my dad out for a ride to Silverstone today. Half way there he says "I thought you had a sports exhaust?". Might need to give you car a few hundred miles yet. All BTB exhausts I have had over the years have needed a bit of soot to bed them in and quieten them down a little.

Ok thanks for that. Thought this might be the case, has been a long time since i've had a car with a stainless exhaust, last one was a Pug 1.9 gti with a full magnex and that was loud!

Yeh that's the impression i got from the video, nice and quiet! But when i had it fitted it is rather loud inside the car to be honest. But hopefully it'll quieten down abit once sooted up.

I remember when I had mine first fitted. The noise seemed to peak at different rev points if that make sense. Now, as you have seen in the videos it's a lot quieter and consistent throughout the rev range. This is typical of the many BTB exhausts that I have had over the years on different cars. They get more quiet the more you use them. I've had mine a few months now and it's perfect. Whilst it's never going to be like an OE system, the noise now is just an acceptable deep rumble. The radio even at a low volume drowns it out completely as can be seen in the vids. Give it time and you will be very impressed.

I've covered around 130 miles and it is starting to change already, some times it's boomy and other's it's a lovely deep rumble and it certainly has made a difference in acceleration i think. Sounds alot better once warmed up too. Few hundred more miles and it'll sound perfect. It's a lvely piece of work i must say the fabrication and welding is faultless, was very impressed with it, well worth the money over a standard pipe anyday of the week.:D
