Bucked Wheels?

  Clio 1.2 TCE
Hi People,

First post on the forum.....

Recently bought a new car, and found out that the Alloy wheels are buckled which is causing the steering wheel to vibrate quite a lot when driving on Motorways...
However, when driving on 30/40mph roads I can barely feel it...

I've been looking at taking the 'Buckled' wheels to a wheel straightening garage, ie...

What do you think?, is it safe?

Anybody has any experiences/ recommendations....

Would be appreciated...

Depending how buckled they are and assuming they are on the front, put them on the back. And how much is the service to rectify the wheels

All four wheels are buckled supposedly..... Garage has swapped the worse of the Alloys to the back - I've visually checked the alloys but cant see any Damage to them.

Think Ill just have to bite the bullet and get them fixed..

Is it worth taking it for a second opinion mate. Ask them to balance them in front of you, that way you will know if they are bent.

I used the guy you linked. Pretty sound, no nonsense place. They charge if the straightening is successful or not. £40 per wheel (that was with rims off the car and no tyre on) , I had two straightened, one successful, one not. In the end I didn't run the wheels as I sourced straight ones so these are now spares. They can only pull it one way / axis, but this can bring it in if it is out in both.

most buckled wheels can be balanced out. make sure they have been balanced correctly e.g two lots of weighs one on the inside centre and one set on the inner edge.

if it only has weights on the inner edge then get them rebalanced. anything up to 60g in one spot is ok over 100g will be badly buckled.
