bulk head heat shield

  C63 AMG, F430 & 172
would you fit one? i removed the renault "muff" from there and have sinced painted the bulkhead.

i have also removed the thick heatproof pad from the cockpit side of the bulkhead.

i notice that the cup racers do this....

but i was thinking of fitting some nimbus steel on the engine side of the bulkhead?

main concerns are that with the power the car makes..the head off the manifold and block will cook the fluid in the brake lines on the bulkhead...

or i will burn /melt my feet/shoes on the inside?

Well, its hard to know really, and at the end of the day you are only going to be reflecting the heat somewhere else where it might cause problems.

Case in point, my rally car had an expensive highly tuned engine in it, with a berillium exhaust manifold and exhaust system. After wrapping the manifold headers with wrap it made the tunnel so hot in the cabin it would melt or burn anything that touched it.

Made going for the handbrake fun ^^

All you can really do is try it without and see what it is like, and then add it in if needed

lol ive heat wrapped the primes and pipework down to the end of the de-cat.

so when the tunnel starts to melt my limbs, what product could be fitted that would let me blood stay below boiling point?

If you fit some heat shielding in between the exhaust and tunnel you should be ok....

... or you could mount your seats on the roof :)

I installed the nimbus sheet on the bulk head as pictured. I used 2 sheets sanwiched between some rockwool. The sheet was £20+ vat and did both sides.

From demon tweeks, just ask for a good price. That is the top hose going to the header - my brother made it from braided ptfe, we were going to make a full braided hose kit for coolant and power steering but couldnt be bothered because everyone always goes for silicone.
