bullets painted, poor colour match (halfrauds)

hi all, have just painted my bullets Halfrauds 'renault glacier white' the same paint code as my clio. however the match is wayyyyy off, seems like more of a grey tbh. quite annoyed as i took the time to prep properly and has taken me a couple of days to get to this point.

My question is, will the lacquer bring out the white at all or will it just make the dull grey shiny?

will post comparison pics soon

If you got the correct paint code then id take the bullets down there and show them to the staff up against your car and show how far off the match is. Get them to mix you up a correct match FOC.

Pics of the difference in colour? My bro had a glacier white clio and painted the sidestrips with halfords paint and the match was spot on!

the paint match will only be as good as the person mixing it at halfords, all they are given is the weight of each colour paint needed, a plastic cup and some scales.

i would recommend using www.auto-paint.co.uk, they are cheaper and the match seems much better

ah my bad didnt realise you got a pre mixed can, i would try and get a refund mate and then order from the other place i mentioned above

Did you buy an off the shelf can........... if so thats why its a shite match..

I had some Titanium silver mixed and it was a perfect match

Halfords paint mixing is very random tbh, all depends who does it as per what Jim said its done with scales and a plastic cup.

If you've got the off the shelf stuff, make sure you give it a bloody good shake!

Half of it will have been on our shelves or in a warehouse for months.

I dont mean just flicking your wrist once or twist, they need properly shaking.

it was off the shelf as it was the right code, and ye i did give it a good shake :approve: lol will take my bullets up there when i get a spare half hour. Will let you know how i get on.

Also worth putting the can in some warm/hot -ish water for a few minutes, Then give it a propper shake. My colour match came out ok with cans off the shelf, All be it not perfect.

Do you mean you've not lacquered them yet? If not they won't look the same colour until you do.

i used halfords cans off the shelf,
monaco blue bear in mind,
gave it a good shake, and it came out spot on,

how many coats of paint have you put on,
what colour primer did you use,
did you leave it to dry and laquer??
how skilled are you with a rattle can??

all of these will make a difference to the end result,
its not all down to the paint

failing that, take it back and have a proper moan,
tell them you expect them to rectify the fault by having them painted the RIGHT colour for you ;)

worth a try
