Bumper Fitment

Of course yeah, but remember it wont fit in with the rest of the car as i think every panel on the 172 is slightly different and beefier but theyll all fit on to yours, 3 door obviously.

Its just the side skirts and front and rear bumper thats different. Trouble is why would you want to make a normal clio look like a 172? Best thing to do is buy a front bumper to make it look different, of course not silly looking. Ha ha ha a nice EVO front bumper hahahahha man did you read Revs and see that black bumper they put on that car.... Man people dont have taste it looked sh*te and didnt even fit

Your all forgetting the 172 has wider front wings (+sideskirts and different front and rear bumpers+wider track)

If you look at most cars with these bodykitsin mags, even those who go to this supposed superb bodyshops, the fit and finish is a joke. Even though i dont like most french modified cars they seem to spend a lot of time on quality.

I really cant believe the front wings are different on a 172...... nor can i believe the track is wider... its the cup thats different.

Yeah track is different, the panels will fit though, the track has nothing to do with the shell of the car. Production costs would be too high if they were essentially two different cars.

Did you know the mk2 facelift cost £120m, i wonder what they did??

Right then here is my case......

172

1.2 16v

Im sorry but the wing looks exactly the same its the front bumper and side skirts that are different..... As not as many 172s are made if you damaged the front wing it would cost you an arm and a leg to replace (supply & demand etc) The wings look the same on all new clios.... As for the track im looking into that!

not the case the wings and the front bumper are wider than the dynamique

You can see the wing is wider on the 172 when you look at it joining the door. If you want proof see the dimensions of the car on the Renault website. The track IS wider but that wont effect changing any panels, though your wheels will look sh*t as theyll be no where near level with the arch.

Ive just checked, 172 is 30mm wider including door mirrors, even though thats not the most useful measurement to use in this case it still proves theres a difference.

normal:

Overall Height
1417

Overall Width with Door Mirrors
1911

Front Track
1392

sport:

Overall Height
1417

Overall Width with Door Mirrors
1940

Front Track
1392
thats interesing cos it says track is the same, i was sure it wasnt! That means surely a lot of the sport stuff can be swapped over? :devilish:

So the track is the same!

As for the width being 29mm wider with door mirrors dont ask me that wont count wings will it..... must have different mirrors?

I know it doesnt, hence why i said "even though thats not the most useful measurement to use in this case it still proves theres a difference."

The wingmirrors arent different, just look in the gallery.

Im going to have to slap you with a wet fish in a minute!

The cup is the same width as the 172 which makes sense, just looks like they havent bothered researching the track width.

The only way youll know for sure is to park a 172 and a lower spec clio next to each other and compare.

I happened to park my mk1 172 next to a mk1 1.4 last night while getting some fish and chips and there is a marked difference in the wings. the arches are definately more flared

errrr looks like a lighting issue on those pics... looks the same to me.... Need to find some better pics to change my mind

LOL na I can see some difference really but I dont like to say I was wrong... Its a little more flaired round the arch noticable where the door is near the wing.....

The 172 has a completely different front wing and bumper set up. I know cause I have had to repair one.

The 172 bumper and wing will however fit on to a standard clio, but it would involve either a bit of botching or a modification of the bumper mounting bracket, as it extends about 20mm further out. All the other wing and bumper mounting points are the same.

By the way the buggers at renault charge 25 pound more for a 172 wing than a standard one, its hard getting one from salvage as well as the majority of written off 172s are from frontal collisions.
