Burpspeed Version 2: Race Car Build

looks excellent. Really loving some of the little touches.

On a side note, the fully open thermostat - I'm not so sure. Will that not just cause your ECU to limit your revs, reduce your thermal efficiency and cause the car to richen up the mixture? Not good for power.

ECU will not be a problem, thats a cert.;)

Fantastic news, and great progress so far. Keep at it at this rate, and it'll be finished before mine. :)

I've seen the car in the flesh a few times now but was sworn to secrecy but I just wanna say that its a credit to both Tony and Jay.

They've both put so much work into this project and am looking forward to seeing it run.

:)

whats the costs to run in this championship?

Can you pm me all the details including a entry form :)

Great build and well written project, again! I knew you were up tp something but wondered if you'd gone back to the darkside and got a ph2, glad you didnt!

great work!!

i'll look forward to seeing this one spinning :rasp:

out of interest, why aren't you using tony's old cup car?

gutted!
that would have been epic..

mind you, the build must be half the fun of it. i wish i had the knowhow to be building my car.

i may have to get in touch with you about the blower setup, i'll have no aircon when i get mine back from fred.

Awesome stuff guys:cool:. Just read it for a second time! Tony looks like he's getting well stuck in. Its been very hard keepin it a secret. Me and Dave have been pissin ourselves with evereyone asking us what you were upto!

172 cup

1.2, 1.4, 1.6 no air con model

The blower unit bolts and plugs straight in ;)

any mk2 Clio without aircon & recirc unit will fit straight in. i sold one a few months ago. or just modify an escort one like i did

Awesome!

I knew something like that was coming along :D I would love to have to work space to do this kind of build... hats off to you sir
Trouble is it's not in there al the time (work gets in the way) so its a pain getting it in the workshop:(

And would the ring be using the north or south loop?

Should be able to get to both Mallory Park events and the Silverstone one, others might be a bit far but will see nearer the time :)

i think many of us off here will make an effort to come ad support you guys racing, nice and busy calendar lined up!

But what about your thermal efficiency. You'll literally loose power to the cylinder wall. Every little helps an that ;) Keep it, it's not like 172s have issues keeping the water temps down. Especially if you give it a little run-down after a trash.

When will the thermostat ever close while running?

The last thing we want is to miss a race because the thermost has stuck shut while warming up pre race. This way it cant close, the only down side is it will take slightly longer to warm up. Not really an issue.

Its open all the time not removed completely so flow wont be affected that much. If we are wrong its only a £2 part
