Buying a 182

Car  Bus Winker
Hi,

I'm looking to buy a 182 in the coming weeks when I have sold my car.

I have seen a few I like (This). What are the things to look for when buying these cars? What are these cup packs?

My budget is around £3500 - £4000.

Thanks,
STRBramley

thyere a guide for what your lookong for on here somewhere mate. look for service history, and the biggy cambelt changes.

The 182 is a complete waste of space. You need a 182 with both cup packs to ensure leather seats and xenons etc.

a 182 cup already comes with all cup packs, and some come with xenons etc as optional extras

THats why its a 182 Cup - because they removed all the stuff you mentioned

IDeally I would go for a 182 Full Fat - all the boxes ticked-

theres a decent black one in the classifieds with the recaros fitted as well

Steve

a 182 cup already comes with all cup packs, and some come with xenons etc as optional extras

ONLY CRASHED ONES

182 cup has the cup suspension and spoiler / splitter. Cloth seats and non-xenon headlights.

182 with both cup packs has cup suspension and spoiler / splitter as well as all the normal 182 extras such as half leather seats and xenon headlights.

As Steve has said, 182 cups that DO have these extras have usually had a crash.

Go for a 182 with BOTH cup packs.

Its confusing...with the 172 it was either a 172 or 172Cup (The real Cup)

With 182, there is the 182, 182 with Cup suspension, 182 with Cup spoiler pack, 182Cup or 182 ff (with both Cup suspension and spoiler packs). http://www.renaultsport.co.uk/roadcars/heritage/Default.aspx

The 182 of choice is the 182 Trophy...but that would be more expensive an option and out of your budget I'm afraid. :)

Okay thanks. So this has both cup packs and leather trim. Does this mean it has had a crash?

Its not a Cup

A cup only comes in racing blue or Orange

Easiest way to tell is either the steering wheel & for definate the 3 knobs of A/C instead of Climate control- people cannot retro fit that out

S

No that is a 182 with both cup packs. Owner doesn't know what they have.

Also 182 cups only came in Racing Blue or Inferno (orange).

Lucky for your Mrs my fingers are faster than yours ;)

Wow I'm confused :o

So if I wanted a 182 with leather trim and both cup packs which should I look for?

Thanks,
STRBramley

Exactly that... just make sure that there is no 'cup' badge by the door pillar on outside and its is not racing blue or inferno orange...(also that it has the half leather/half alcantara interior with Climate control and Xenons).

Also, make sure it has splitter on as they are now around £150 from Renault (although you can get the Skoda one for £13)

Just be careful as some sellers don't know what they are selling...so check and double check :)

I'm going to through a spanner in the works now by saying that you can get inferno and Racing blue FF's :o

First things first choose the colour you want, however with your budget you are slightly restricted to Silver, arctic blue or black, If you want racing blue ideally another £500 sheets on the table would help-

Search through the ads of your colour, remember if its not orange or racing blue then it will be what you want - if it is orange or racing blue then check for Climate control

THe Full fat top spec WILL have Xenons, Climate & leather ( or recaros)

other than that check the usual stuff, ensure you get HPI check & invoice for belts being done ( preff by a specialist)
pay your £10 membership on here- I bet for every shi**er on here there 10 elsewhere-

Check front bumper for black inserts- always a tell tail sign of resprayed front end if they are missing ( or possibly a stone chip touch up)
WHat your looking for is the black tabs on the end of the slatted bit of the front bumper-

intact-

Thanks for all of the advice.
I will get the membership.

So, this is what I should be looking for?
And not this?
Although I would prefer a black car.

Thanks,
STRBramley

Yes although the silver one in your link has been resprayed at the front

have a look at Recaro182's Clio in the classifieds- just about your budget---

Thanks, that looks exactly like what I am after. However, he says, "exhaust emissions warning light comes on". Is this a serious problem? I had a Clio 1.2 auto before and all I had was problems with different warning lights and the car not starting.

Look underneath the lights, on the piece between the upper grill and lower grill, there are 2 black plastic 'stickers' which when a front end is resprayed, most resprayers don't take account of.

See amended picture with arrows pointing to the black inserts.

the 2nd picture is the without (so they've either been removed or painted over...

Would like to say thanks for the info of here,im new on here and now know that my 182 is a full fat and am gonna check my bumper in the morning, cheers guys....

So does mine :rasp:

On the original question. I was led to believe that if your going to change the suspension, get a non cup suspension car as there is more choice? Might be wrong tho.

Then it's all good. Worth a look.

If you want coilovers, they are hard to get for 182s with the suspension cup pack.

the exhausts look abit dodgy, stick out a clear mile, they should be flush witht he bumper, i may be wrong but ive heard this can be due to having a decat fiited pushing it further back, also in one of the pics it seems so have a different exhaust fiited altogether and has a nurburg sticker on the boot lol
