Buying a new RS tuner question. DON'T CRY

Looking into buying an RS Tuner new from fast chip ( for peace of mind over buying second hand and the potential for drama ). However iv had a quick look at Fastchip site and looks like when buying it you need to enter the vehicles VIN number.....well what If I don't have the car yet ? Can I still buy one direct from Fastchip?


alsoooooo..... Do you need to download a software program for your laptop from Fastchip in order to be able to use the rs Tuner ?

He needs the VIN for it to be unlocked for your car. I guess if you emailed him (Henk) he could sell you a locked rstuner and then buy the license separately afterwards. Although that seems a bit a cumbersome way of doing things.. And yes you need to download the software for your laptop in order to use the rstuner.

Why not buy the rstuner when you have the car? Also, nothing wrong with buying a second hand rstuner.

The vin you need when ordering is just the litre/model so yours would be Clio 2 RS CBxx (gas). assuming you are getting a 172/182

The unlocking will take place when you hook up the RStuner to your car and laptop (using the RSTuner software) and generate a code. you then send Henk the code and a screenshot of the main page so he can send you the correct map and the unlock code.

So yes you can order before hand aslong as you know which car your getting

Kangoo the Vin number should stay the same regardless. plugging in a RSTuner will allow you to see what software the car is running.

Hijack alert!!!! but on the Rs tuner note so thought a reply might be of use to all.
I have read the 'how too' thread on here in the guides by martin182 and he states that i need a 19 digit number AND a vci code plus the screen shot.
So far i have got the screen shot and copied to clipboard the number in the 'unlock vci' part but i am now confused (doesnt take much these days) as i have got to checkout on fastchip website and copied the long number in the info box but martin182 says you need to include the vci number found in the bottom left hand toolbar eg 1.85 etc. Im not sure which one he means, anyone clarify this or screen shot/highlight it?
Sorry for being thick but i want to get it right and others may be confused too.

Put the 19digit unlock code into the order notes as you have done, but then just send Henk the screenshot via email after placing your order making sure you put your order number in the email. He can get everything he needs from this as the VCI firmware version is shown on the screenshot anyway. if your on 1.85, he might advise you to upgrade to the latest firmware version of 1.89 (he will send instructions of how to do this if he requires you to do it). - p.s, just realised Henk replied above anyway! lol. Nevermind




For people reading this thread, Cup Phil has had a personal vendetta against Henk since 2011 btw so anything he posts about the RSTuner nearly always has a unnecessary negative spin on it. Henk nearly always replies the following night as he is in the Philippines which has a 7hour time difference.
