Buying A Williams 2 Should I

I wonder if any one can help me make my mind up.

I have been offered a M-reg Williams 2 with 79,000 Miles on the clock for £2500. It needs a bit of work doing to it, front brake discs and pads, new window screen for MOT, a couple of tyres, front fog light and a bloody good clean inside and out. No tax , no mot, no bills / invoices but Full Renault Service History.

Also there is a problem with the car idling. One minute it will idle fine at 1000 rpm then drop to 500 rpm, then jumps to 1500 rpm and back to 1000 rpm. Its not all the time and the bloke tells me its the injectors, but i cant see that. It does have a K & N induction kit on it.

If any body can shed any light or any tips i would be very gratefully.

No Tax/MOT/Bills, plus problems, id stay well clear matey!! Spend a bit more a get one that does not need anywork doing and has been looked after with a bit of money spent on it!!

Valver sounds okay but its just not a Williams is it? lol

If you want to put the work into the Williams above then go for it - it has a full Renault service history which is always a bonus. Not sure about the dodgy idle tho sorry - but im sure someone on here will :)

Yeah but if it has a genuine SH i would of thought they would keep invoices and bills/receipts etc!

FSH aint much really as my mate has a "TC Harrison Ford" stamp that he had made up at a "Rubber Stamp" shop in Cambridge for £8 and stamps all our mates cars that have fords! Without bills/receipts there is no proof that the work has been carried out!!

For they extra £500 you can get one that is T&T, FSH, 17s, Konis, ICE, Stainless, leather, Cat1 Alarm!

I know which id buy!! I would buy it if i had the £££££££££

If you wanted a bit of project then Id go for the williams, if your doubting maybe try to contact previous owners to chech whether the mileage an SH is correct.

It really depends whether your hoping to keep it running while you fix it and whether youve got the cash to do it properly.

Smokey - you recon you can get a Willy 2 with all the mods you listed for 3k? Good luck mate!!

My car has full service history but I admit to being crap at looking after receipts - so does that make my car sh*te?

ps. You just have dodgy mates with their rubber stamps LOL :devilish:

Thanks for every bodys help. I think its quite cheap at 2.5k.

TC Harrison Ford is quite close to me Smokey, fun that.

The pervious owner had the car for 5 years.

Get him to put it through an MOT before you buy or even ask if you can put it through yourself, if it fails on just the above then sounds like a reasnoble price. At least that way it shouldnt have too many hidden extras and you know what you have to do to make it roadworthy. Idling sounds like the idle control valve there are many threads on this in the mechanical bit. It sounds like youre planning to sort it all yourself so doesnt sound too bad, mainly consumerables like tyres which even wear out on mint williams!

Smokey I am in Fenstanton which is not far at all, small world.

The car is in Pidley.

I think i can sort most of it out my self, but its still going to cost over £500 squid.

Going to offer the bloke 2k and see where we go from there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
