yep, you want him to change it anyway if it hasnt been done, whats the mileage? Has it service history? Very important on cars like these.fell in love with one today only problem was some squeeking from the engine when revving . i said this would be a condition of sale that its sorted , he said it sounds like the fanbelt and he will get it changed . does this sound about right ?
lol as if ur selling up already :rasp: managed to get insured then?
They don't have a fanbelt. It's electric and transverse engined. They only have a timing belt and accessory belt.
The squeaking is normally the belt tensioners.
Personally i always take a pressure tester down (with every car as it saved me from buying a mini with no piston rings),
Depends if you have a pencil pressure tester matePersonally i always take a pressure tester down (with every car as it saved me from buying a mini with no piston rings),
Do you really think a seller would let you remove their inlet mani and preform a compression test?? ha ha ha. Its not like you can just wip the inlet mani off that easy! I would tell you to get lost.![]()
as said above you can get really nice lower milage and full service history for the same price i only paid £2500 for my old one with 7600 miles full s/h cambelt ect done and loads and loads of recipts,http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-u...el=CLIO&min_pr=&max_pr=3000&max_mileage=80000 here's a nice one mate you could knock him down to about £2800 easily if he wants to sell it
^^ would anyone do that ha ha and if it was a bargain knowing my luck with the car i was going to get they will buy it ha ha
