Buying stuff for cleaning, Argghhh....

Right, as JD and the other's will have got to have known, I am a fussy asktwat of a person with questions.

So now I am on the DW forum and Autobrite have a sale on and Im looking to buy some new stuff.

So far Ive looked at their buckets with grit guards, shampoo, citrus wash for the wheel arch's, rain repel (£7), wheel wash pad, a new drying towel and acid wheel cleaner.

But I am now wondering if the 4ltrs of turtle wax shampoo I have will be good enough and is there anything else that might be good to order at the moment?
I am looking at the detailing brushs for the wheels and tricky areas but they're only £2 each.

So should I stop at this or anything else I should possibly look at?

First thing, why acid wheel cleaner?

Wheel brush, love my big EZ brush. Best wheel brush I've tried. http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wheels-and-tyres/ez-detail-brush/prod_480.html You can also pick up lots of different brushes from eBay - name escapes me for now... red collar with yellow plastic. Perfectly acceptable, just make sure they are plastic, i.e. won't scratch.

Shampoo wise, BTBM in my eyes. Or GWash/Meg's Hyperwash.

envy brushes is what your thinking of?

EZ wheel brush seems expensive to start but you wont need to buy another

no idea what the shampoo is like, but the favourites are always the same, cleanmax, Z7, BTBM, hyperwash, lather. wont go wrong with any of them

Is non acid wheel cleaner any less or worse for cleaning?

Can you put another sticky thread for the top page of whats most recommendable to use and why, like the cleaning process thing but product related.

the ez detail brush just last so much longer than its competitors, and works well

envy detail brushes direct from envy £6.79, or ebay, for 5. or wait for the new Autofinesse brushes that look quite nice, no cost yet though

ive only ever used non acid wheel cleaners as heard a few stories of acidic causing damage, staining etc. are your wheels sealed? if so you shouldnt really need anyting that strong

Acidic wheel cleaners are fine for a one off deep clean of a car that's been hammered.

I wouldn't (and don't!) use it on my pride and joy though. It will discolour your wheel valves, tarnish the wheel bolts, make your calipers rusty... Its nasty stuff.

I use it at work for cars that haven't been cleaned for years, but other than that, a normal wheel cleaner will do. Only resort to an Acid as a last ditch attempt! lol.
