looking at bypassing the fan control on my dci, the engine fan only ever kicks in with aircon and today has made me worry sitting in traffic for an hour,
on the M1. the fan never kicked in once and the temp gauge went up one above half way

changed a few parts when i got back, temp sensor/thermostate ( genuine parts )

so heres my question how can i bypass it so i can controll when i want it to come on, via a switch on the dash ?

or is this going to be a problem with the uch controlling it?

help appreciated.

thanks

I know some of the Rover/Lotus K series owners have done a remote stat mate. Might be worth a Google. I'll have a look on an old forum I use occassionally, see if I can find a link that maybe gives you the basics.

cheers mate, i dont want to kill this engine off hence getting all worried about it lol.

i know i'll have to bridge it somehow, i just dont want it shorting out as the aircon has to use it aswell ( without my control )

My temperature gauge went one above halfway as well the other day. First time its happened too. Will this become a problem if it happens regularly?

Don't really know how it'd effect the engine being 1 bar higher but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Why would you want to do it? It's designed to come on at a certain temperature. Diesel engines take longer to get up to temperature.

As long as the fan is not jammed, leave it.

so i can switch it on when i want, for peace of mind that the thing wont overheat ;)

its never crept over half before, and i dont like it.

  DON'T SEND ME PM'S!!
so the car is getting a bit warmer now the outside temperature isn't -2? shocking revelation!!! Consider the possibility it wasn't getting warm enough before ;)
