Any recommendations for a refurb and paint/coat? Ideally want to choose a custom colour unless they've got the right sort of blue I'm after in their normal range.

I’ve used M.S Custom Engineering in the past and they were excellent. Only heard good things since. If you’re on Facebook have a search and they should pop up. There’s loads of pics of their work on the page

Some of you fancy putting prices up too please?

From what I can see SSL are the cheapest and do very good work. It would be nice to see how their price compares to others as there are some good names being thrown about but like BiggRed I got a quote which was a good 35% more than SSL

I've already been quoted by BCS (Nottingham), £450 Inc VAT for all four single piston calipers in their standard colour range with lifetime warranty.

Premium colours it goes up to £126 per caliper for paint, nearly doubling the quote...guessing custom colours are higher still. Seemed like a big jump when surely the amount of work would be similar? 🤔

Hence the thread. Would just send the front pair in and worry about the rears later if that's what it costs. 😅

Pair of Brembos at BCS was £240 in any colour with new seals and bleed screws.

Wilwood 6 pots were about 280 as I needed 2 new pistons.

He quoted me £200 ish I think for redoing my single piston rears.

Was that recent? Seems a fair bit different different to what I got back. 😅

Or was that the Rochdale place you meant?

That seems like an awful lot of money to me Jonnio… can’t be much more buying brand new standard callipers.

Aye did seem a bit much for some shitty pauper calipers.

A friend of mine picked up his resprayed Porsche 911 alloys and brake the calipers to go with that for a similar price.

That was just this weekend too. What you've been quoted does seem quite pricey, indeed.

Skoda ones were this year and the mazda ones last year. Brake Caliper Refurbs in Rochdale. He's got a website and Instagram page does absolutely loads

@Jonnio calipers are very easy to diy refub, especially single piston calipers.

Buy seals, pistons (if you even need them), clips, slides, slide dust covers, stainless bleed nipples from Bigg red. Normally under £40 pet pair for everything.

Pistons pop out with an airline, pull seals out with a pick/needle pliers.

First set I dipped in citric acid overnight, then used a wire wheel to clean them up before painting. Second set I sand blast then zinc plated.

For £450 I would absolutely be doing them myself.

Totally agree, £450 is absolutely silly sausage money to essentially get a shitty old pair of standard callipers painted and it’s really not a tough job.

For that price, stretch an extra 25 quid and buy a brand new set of Brembos and go wit a big brake kit.

Absolutely this, diy all the way.

I refurbed the wilwood calipers for the trophy with new seals and bleed nipples. Clean clean clean and clean again and rebuild. The mrs put them back together after i showed her how to install one piston, so easy. Rears with handbrake mech can be a patience tester but all doable.

Yeah brakes are very very simple! The problems come when there's seized bleed nipples or damaged seats.

Can basically complete a full refurb with new pistons etc on 4 pot brembos for £140.

Contact small local powdercoating companies offering cash and they'll black and powdercoat for £20/caliper

If you go to the extent of removing the caliper for refurb then before you do anything, get some heat into the nipple and connecting line, get them cracked off before anything to make life easier. Don't worry about heating up the fluid as you'll be bleeding it out at a later date.
