cam belt and......(valver)

Cams ain't much use without the associate dheadwork to get the best out of them. There was a post on here for cambelt change on a valver and had links to all the usual renault specialists so can pick where is nearest or where you prefer.

I got mine done at BB on 72k and they did waterpump at same time, had low temp thermostat and fan switch fitted to run cooler and had decat and chip fitted at same time too.

Chips are good as make the Valver more drivable and smoother but costs now from some places is near teh cost of a remap which is better.
 
Personally I wouldn't bother best get a 2.0 bottom end its more power and more importantly give more low end torque plus future tunning is easier.

had a feeling no ould be the answer! Just a cambelt change it is then!

matty what else you done to yours? I already got a 4-2-1 manifold, decat, ss exhaust and ik. do you think a chip/remap would be good to finish it off? I don't wanna go too crazy with the engine but was just thinking getting new cams put it at the same time as the belt would be a good idea.....

Get cams then get 2.0 btm end later imo...I would'nt bother with the off the shelf though would get it mapped somewhere.

I dont think you will need to get the new followers unless you are worried yours are worn out.How rattley does yours sound wen its ticking over?

check the water pump aswell while they are doing it......

and its worth getting the tensioners done aswell not just the belt while its all apart

oh yeah should have said, I am having the tensioners done at the same time. this could be expensive
