Cam Belt question

I have just been informed by by local renault dealership I need to have my cambelt changed on my 172 sport.

Thats cool but they want 740 quid, which seems expensive and everytime my car has been in for work there they have screwed it up, infact theyve just been in the local paper for poor workmanship.

Basically I need a good local garage i can trust, all recommedations welcome. I live in,Warwickshire.

GDi are 67 miles from Warwick and can be highly recommended on here, i'm sure someone one here will have a good idea of the cost too.

I know someone good in leicestershire that has the tools for the job. Thats if you dont mind travelling to Coalville.

its about 5-6 hours labour @ £75 plus cambelt kit @ £150 and acces belt £25 so it is about right. an independent renault specialist will do it cheaper though

plus the water pump

Anyone have an idea why its cheaper at gdi for a cambelt change on a cup than it is on the regular sport?

Its easier to do because theres no aircon so possibly slighty less labour, and also think the aux belt is cheaper on the cup

Ive only heard good things about gdi and k-tech too but there both so far from me in warwick...... anyone know anywhere closer?

cups are a lot easier to do as there is less work on the auxillary belt side.
more room.

try hillpower in Derby http://www.hillpower.co.uk/ only about 40 miles from warwick they are a renault specialist with a good rep, i phoned them last month for a cambelt and aux change they quote £520

But is that with the aux belt, most places do this at the same time, if it is go for it you won't get it any cheaper then that!

Just had all the belts,tensioners,long bolts,aux,cam,timing belts done.

Also got it serviced aswell so the fuel & air filter 4 sparks, oil change etc.

All in the guy took £550, a years guarntee with it aswell, he had it for a day.

I thought this was really resonable!

thats very reasonable, but your gonna tell me that was in glasgow arent you, typical I was in Loch wynoch last week.
