Cam Belt,

My car has done just over 23K, whats the usual change? Just sprung to mind looking at another post.

I wouldnt have thought it would need doing for a while

aux belt is at 36k

my cars a 51 plate, done 62k and had the cambelt done @ 41k in 08/05.

Is my cambelt due at 72k or 08/10, whichever comes first ??????

also, what is, and when is, the aux belt due ?

Intervals offically are:

Aux Belt every 36k or 5 years since last change, whichever comes first
Cam Belt every 72k or 5 years since last change, whichever comes first

Personally would do Aux Belt at 36k or 3 years AND at Cam Belt change aswell

Your cambelt would be due wither 72k miles after 41k so 113k miles or 08/10.

i dont know if it has or not, i had my local garage inspect the cam belt and he said it was done 08/05 and soi will be due 08/10 next yr. would the aux belt not been done at the same time ?

what does the aux belt cost on its own? Will it cost the same if i have it done at the same time as the cam belt ?

You NEED the aux belt done at the same time. Your old one needs to come off for access, and you should never re-use a belt. It sounds like you need one anyway.

Hmm, im not looking forward to this Cam change, Whats peoples views on self services. Have always serviced my old cars. But as this one is a much newer car i would not have the stamp to go with it. Any recommendations? do i dread the £400 ish or do it for pennies?
