you need a crank locking pin,which you have to remove a torx bolt to fit it and remove 2big black blanking plugs to acces end of the cams then lock the crank when the big side of the cams are at the topthen fit the cam tool it is a easy one to do,jsut remember to replace the kit not just the belt

yeah getting the tools just looking for a guide to see the best way to go around it and what all has to be removed

really its just for reference

So how much would it cost you to do it yourself, assuming that you have to buy all/most of the tools?....
Apparently it's a hardcore job and if done incorrectly can pretty much ruin the car?!...

Hey all, rather than starting a new thread I thought I would revive this one.

These tools that you talk of...will my local garage have them? i.e. are they specialist workshop tools... or specialist Renault Tools?

Reason being is I trust my local garage much more than a main dealers but don't want to ask them to do a job that they might get half way through and ring me and say they can't finish it?

Any advice would be most appreciated.

So this CAM locking tool is specific to Renaults?...or will my local garage have one as they are used on other vehicles too? is what I am asking.

I will ask when they ring me back with the qoute but I've pestered them enough today to ring them again.
