Cambelt Change - what proof do you want?

  172 Turbo
I've seen four 1*2s in the last week, one owner has said it needs a belt, one has said I'm not sure, the other two said Yes, but the only proof is the sticker saying belt changed and the other said the book is stamped for a service and they've written cambelt changed.

Would you want to see the invoice too? Or am I being paranoid?

I too would want to see the invoice!! The sticker doesn't mean anything!!

Another vote for invoice.

If not try get money knocked then you can get it done yourself for peace of mind.

I'd be asking where it was done and getting the garage to confirm.
Even better if you can get money off and get Fred to do it. You'll know it's right then. .

I'm having the cambelt changed on my 182 soon and will be have it done by my friend Matt (Code Red) ex Renault Technical Expert and will be buying a genuine Renault cambelt kit from Renault Wolverhampton so i'll have a parts invoice. I'll also be taking photos of the cambelt change as it will be part of my project build. Would that be enough proof and piece of mind for someone if I was to sell the Clio on?

It would be for me.
he did most of the work on my 182 and I too have receipts for parts and pics of his work.

I recently sold a 182 that we did the belts and dephaser on.

I had the receipt from Renault, the old parts in a big sack, a stamp in the book and a list with my garages stamp on it, confirming what was replaced.

Still didn't believe me.

If u plan on doing the belt when u get the car(by a specialist)

Then wouldn't worry about who did it! For my peace of mind I just did the belt when I got my car and I know it's done then

Was it black and to someone on the forum?

I would go with invoice more than just a stamp. And unless its a known garage I'd still be wary of it if it felt down on power, its fairly obvious after driving them for so many years when the timing is out.

  Mint 1*2's for sale-
theres only a handful of specialists id go to ( or at least endorse a cambelt)

The rest- I would just get it done again. - you know 99% the rest have used the cheapest belt & no aux belt kit. Just another cheap belt.

For me I only buy genuine Renault service parts, from the sump plug washer, oil filter, oil, Type D coolant, cambelt kits, and keep the invoices

On these car yes I would want to see a invoice because it is so expensive to do, I only brought the car I have today because it had a book of reseat of work done, and that included the cambelt.
