Cambelt change with 36k service?

Is it a worthwhile idea, or total overkill?

Mine will need it's 36k service in the next couple of months and as I plan to stick hold of it for another year - I'm thinking it's another plus-point to the potential buyer at circa 48k and 4 years of age?

Just a random thought bouncing around that empty void that's sat on my shoulders.... ;)

depends what age it is, if it near 5 years or so, then you may aswell as you should get big discounts on a Dual change as its easier to do both than one then the other imo.

If i was looking at buying a car that was 4years old and the cambelt had been changed at 3 years i would instantly suspect something fishy.

says to get it changed at 72k so if it didnt have one done at 36k or after X years i wouldnt be that @rsed.

i bought mine on 69k so had to get mine done and same when i bought my valver years ago.

i know very little about the cars tho until i start owning them, i onyl got the 172 cos was only thing for sale at time at good price.

Got my Cup done @ 50k, 3.5yrs old. Wasn't worth the risk in my eyes as it was driven pretty hard :)

Aux belt due at 36k so might as well get the CAM belt done at the same time.

Saves ££££££££

That was the main idea, m8 - kill two birds with one stone, so to speak.

To be honest, what Rollo says is a bloody good point too. I hadn't thought of that. Actually looking after your car too well, can at times make potential buyers think that something is amiss.

Bugger. I'm even more unsure now. :(

Just picked mine up from its 36k service 52 plate.

Had the AUX/CAM done but then again mine is five years old come December.

Paid £560 all in.

It's overkill if you are only keeping it until it is 4 years old.

No one is going to give you less for it 'cos it needs it's belt done in a year, and conversely no one is going to give you extra if it has been done.

If you were keeping it for a couple more years it would be different.

Got mine done at 36k as it was over 4 years old, so thought may as well whilst it's in for a major service :)
