Cambelt change

How much has everyone been paying for a cambelt change on a 172? am thinking bout buying and 02 reg 172 but they're all due a timing belt change now and i hear its an expensive job.

Your looking at between £430- £600 unless you can find cheaper.:dapprove:

renault quoted £400 thot theyre might be some independants out there who could do it cheaper?

As a guide I'd expect to pay £500 from a specialist for a full belt change and major service, which makes the cam belt change approx £300.

5.1 hours offical job you need all the locking tools and its easy to mess up if you don't know what your doing.

Renault quoted me £900! That's with aux belt too. £600 without it.

£300 for the aux belt?! Cost me an extra £70 to get it done on my 36k service.

Same place too.

it is easy to f**k it up mate.
it does take time too!
iv done mine my self but the engine was out so i decided to do it my self.
if i was close id do it for less
iv done it twice and i have both cam and crank locking tools!

just got my kent cams back, hard to do the cambelt i can assure you. definately more than 5.1 hrs so far.

With the right garage and stuff 5.1 hours is the time givena dn it can be done.

Not having the ramsp etc it cannot though.
