Cambelt etc Price's?

Just got a quote from a decent garage up here for Cambelt, Aux Belt, Dephaser Pulley, Water Pump & a service, came back with £859 and it'll take a day and a half.

Is this a decent price or would it be just as cheap to get it done from a main Renault dealer???

Thanks

I would say that's very toppy mate. Was it even a specialist or just a random garage?

My local mechanic is proper decent but I still wouldn't take mine to him for a cambelt change. Even though he'd say he could do it no dought, I know he hasn't got the right locking tools.

I would take it to the nearest specialist from you personally. For example a full cambelt change at MWM which is near me is £450. Add on £127 for a dephaser and then maybe £100 more for a water pump (I don't know how much they cost). The total of that is nearly £200 less than your quote.

Hope that helps.

Rentech in Portsmouth are doing aux belt/ cambelt changes for £400 in January. Shame it's a long way from from Sunderland.

As above I would only take it to a Renault specialist that has the correct timing tools etc.

It does depend a bit on what they are intending to do on the service, but I wouldnt expect a bill that big.

The belts are a bit fiddly so taking it to one of the specialists on here is a good option, they do it all the time which helps.

Renault did mine (without the service) for £470 which included a 5 year/72,000 mile warranty on the cambelt.
