I havnt no (was already done when I got mine), but I know HillPower have quoted someone £180 for Cambelt..

They also do the whole pulleys/belts etc.. if you want, but thats around £300 if I remember!

^^ What he said, hehe.

But, they are all quite a way from the North West.

BB is Essex, K-Tec is right down south, HillPower is near Ashby and GDi is near Cambridge..

£220 was my quote i think

it takes a book time of 4.9 hrs to do a cam belt on a williams (autodata figures)

cam belt is about £25-£30..

average labour rate is about £40 / hr

so we would charge £220 all in at the moment..

if you wanted / need the tensioners changing then the top one is just the parts charge.. the bottom one takes upto another hr to do...

hope this helps.

try this number mate, based in warrington and VERY handy, do all my work and another forum user onhere, ask for Si or Mike 01925242242

I did mine on my rt last week with a mechanic down the road from me near Blackpool!

I bought the cam belt which was about a tenner, bought cam shaft seal and crank shaft seal and water pump, it took around three hours and he only wanted 40, I ended up given him a bit more but he knew his stuff and only charged 20 an hour!!!

However, the williams one would take a bit longer and be a bit of a tighter squeeze but Im sure he wouldnt charge that much!

I wish the Williams etc cam belts were as easy to do as the 1.4 ones.... so much more room....!!! never mind (nice one renault)

you guys wanna see the S3 audi cam belt job!!!

  williams and trophy

do it yourself mate........only takes a couple hours ........an thats on the back street with no ramp....so in a garage shud b a lot less.......me mate can do em in jus over an hour at work, would suggest u replace the tensioners as well tho while belts off...........peace of mind if nowt else

BTW i think it was ABP who lowered adis silver valver......an that ended up in a ditch with the n/s torsion beam hangin out...........be warned

Do it yourself - i had never worked on a car before and with a little help from my dad and the holy bible which is the Haynes Manual- i managed to completely replace the head, oil/fuel filters, cam belt, alternator belt, thermostat, gaskets, exhaust manifold, engine oil and gearbox oil and heat shields in two days!!!!

Lots done but the sunroof still leaks! Cost me about £450 all in all and i got a lot of kit for that! Mind you, you only want the cam belt done so save your dolla and so it ureself - trust me!

Whats the place called?

I had mine done at a place called "Prosport" theyre in Heaton Moor, just past didsbury.

They specialise in Lancers/Subarus and anything Japanese but they are a quality outfit.

I bought the belt myself and the labour to put it on came to about 220 quid incl VAT.

The number is 0161-432-9999 if you want to give them a bell.

  None

Just got mine done for my 1.2 8v - cost me 65 quid for a 16v i would expect around 120 - 130 to be reasonable. sorry about lack of pound signs. Using dodgy work computer :\

take it to your local place and get them to do it, im sure they can do them with their eyes shut. buy the parts and and give them cash.

The guy I normally use has to do it outside as 95% of his work is on heads and he never sees the cars so he only has one garage which u can image is full of all his equipment, so its a case of getting some decent weather and I want to get it done A.S.A.P before it becomes a more costly job.

Guess Ill have to get him a few golf umbrellas :D.

To give you an idea, we book this out at about £200 inc all parts and labour.

Usually takes between 1.5 and 2.5 hours...one thing to watch - the torx headed bolts on the top part of the cam cover - these can get very tight and it doesnt take much to round them, especially the couple that are tricky to get at. Someone once bought a car into us for a belt change - first thing I looked at when he was there was the bolts - sure enough one had been completely rounded, and when I told him that we would probably have to remove the engine to get it out, he decided to take it elsewhere - 2 weeks later, I get a call OK you can do it....once remove hole was re-drilled and tapped - basically major ball ache for a simple job....

Space tight but perfectly doable....

Often the case mate... yep been there myself... its a pain when they round isnt it!!!

I often jack the engine up a few inches to get better access at the bottom bolts...
