Cams for Clio with Forced Induction

  182, SQ7, Trafic
Just wondering what would be best really. I know there are a fair few gurus on here, most threads cover high compression and the cams that work well with that.

I will be using a supercharger with Megane pistons to lower the CR ratio. Going to do a full head rebuild so will go with updated valve springs and valves but wondering what cams to use. I'm interested in keeping the VVT too, unless you can give me some cons for it to change my mind

Engine Dynamics have a good package which include most bits for a rebuild including "performance cams" which I'm tempted to call and rearrange and uprate a few parts and tweak the pack if possible.

Any ideas/knowledge would be great :)

Cams for Rotrex charged engines can be looked at very similarly to N/A tuning. I also see no real reason to remove the VVT, it just makes the car nicer to drive at light throttle and low revs. Get the switch points right and you can sometimes even have an advantage by turning it off at higher revs

Is this due to it being a gradual linear increase? I'd say so as it does work and feel like an N/A car.

So what cams would you recommend?

The standard cams are ideally suited to forced induction unless you are going for really huge power.

The VVT is a real asset, allows you to have two cam positions and switch between them, cant think of any engine I wouldnt want to have that option available to me.

Map it fully with the cam advanced, and map it full with the cam retarded, overlay the two graphs and choose your camswap point based on where they cross.

My standard cams are scored and don't look there best. I imagine it's worth buying some second had then rather than new updated ones?

As regrinds arent common on the F4R it means that almost everyone who has upgraded their cams ends up with a spare set of standard ones, so shouldnt be too hard to find a decent set of standards.

Try dropping Fred@BTM or MWMsport a PM, im sure one of them will have a set of standard lieing around from where they have fitted upgraded cams to a customer car.

It will be interesting to see how much ignition this will want with the lower compression.

Personally i'd stick with stock cams unless you want 320+, shame as i've just binned about 5 sets :(
