Can i do anything to get some light scratches out?

Ages ago when I was washing the car the hosepipe dragged across the bonnet and I've got a couple of light marks. They aren't deep or anything but will something like ScratchX work or are these things just gimmicks and don't actually work?

I tried some T Cut like stuff (turtle wax something or other) which claims to get rid of light scratches and swirls, the swirls are all gone but these damn marks are still there :(

If they are light they should polish out, Megs Scratch X would be my first port of call.

Slightly off-topic here, but still relevant in a round about way. What's the difference between a PC (available from the US for about £150 that people on here often refer to) and the automatic rotary hand polishing machines you can get from Halfrauds for £50?

I've given-up trying to hand polish swirl marks and slight scratches by hand with Scratch-X, and currently looking for a mechanical solution.

The Halfords own brand polisher things have no power to them to be able correct any defects, only of any use to apply and remove products not correct defects.

The only options for paintwork correction are proper Rotary Polishers or the Random Orbital Machines such as the Porter Cable.
