found this on another furum might be of some help

""The best thing to do is grab a test light and do the following:

Attach the wire from the test light to a good clean earth on the cars body and prod the wires, when one lights it - bingo, the perminant live.

Now turn the key in the ignition and do the same, when a differnt wire lights, you have found the switched live.

Now turn on the headlights and do the same again, when it lights you have found the illumination wire.

Now unclip the test light and attach it to the perm live wire. now prod the other wires, when it lights you have found the earth wire.

Now all you have to do is find the speakers, to do this grab a 1.5 volt battery and hold one of the wires on the positive, now touch all of the remaining wires (one at a time) unti you hear the speaker "pop", you have found a pair of speaker wires.

Carry on doing this with the other wires until you have found them all - plug in the arial and job done!!""

Same when i got my 16v - if you go and buy an ISO lead from halfords it labels the wires and most of these are the same colour etc as the ones in the car - for those that arent you can usually trace them to the individual speakers but the power ones are obvious...
