I am wanting to configure the above laptop for gaming how ever i am stuck with the amount of choice. I want to spend around £750 and have 8gb Ram.
I am stuck on the processor.. is a higher Ghz dual core i5 better than a lower Ghz quad core i7?
Also should i spec a SDD drive? i hear these dramatically increase loading times?

Cheers

Do you really need a gaming laptop though?
They are massively compromised against the likes of a desktop. Get a decent one and they are outclassed in a very short space of time. Again, get a decent one, and its on par with the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier in terms of weight and size. Finish that off with the power supply that usually requires a shopping trolley to lug about.

Then you get to the Achilles Heel of every gaming laptop. The majority of PC games are designed with keyboard & mouse inputs in mind. So now you have to have the laptop on a desk in order to use an external mouse properly - a trackpad would leave you dead in any game that required reactions quicker than a sloth.

So now you have an over-priced, overweight, (admittedly) above average piece of kit with a shelf life that will last about the time of its default warranty in usefulness. There's a reason why the gaming laptop market is so small - there's little reason to get one! :)

I can sit on the sofa with it on my lap and use the arm of the sofa to rest a mouse on. I've also sat up on a bed with it on my lap and a mouse + mousepad wresting next to me. I'm not saying you have to but its useful having the option to. It's really not that big of a deal as you make it sound like Darren lol. Considering how stagnent console specs are and how these restrain game developments its not difficult (but still comparitively expensive mind you) finding a 15" or even 13" laptops that are capable of running games.
