Just bought this on eBay. Says low miles so I took a gamble. Look OK to put on my CTR?

(Using one of these tablet things so I'm lost as to how to embed the pic!!)

Guessing it could be cleaned with some brake cleaner on the contact area? As long as the teeth are in tact and isn't warped?

It looks like it's got a couple of hot spots generated on it, clean it 1st and put a flat machine edge across the contact area for the clutch plate and get the feeler gauges out to check for any run out, may need a surface grind if theres to much run out, don't know what the tolerances would be though.

Regards Russ...

Ah right cheers guys.

Russ - you mean those 2 elliptical shiny areas at opposing sides? Would a competent garage be able to box it off or is there a special tool needed?

Think so yeah but this could cause damage to the clutch itself?

I'd clean it 1st and see what those 2 spots are like just put a steel rule against them, it may be nothing as the flywheel looks fine just needs a clean, only you can see tbh hard to tell from photos.

Much appreciated. Thought I'd bought a dud! Was only £40 though.

It's gonna be fitted @ Grinspeed so I'm sure he'll make sure it's ok then. Ta

  DON'T SEND ME PM'S!!
give it a wipe with some brake cleaner, then use a piece of course emery paper on a flat block to rough the surface a little (remove the glaze) if there's tiny surface cracking (common on flywheels) then you really want to get it skimmed. Skimming is always the best thing to do for extended life of a new clutch and ensure best performance

Cheers Dan. Yeah I read somewhere someone had to get one skimmed. He was quoted £120 for the service though!? Isn't that a little steep?!

Definately overpriced at £120!

I had a GTI-6 flywheel skimmed a coupld of years back, that cost me £30 and was turned around in 24 hours.
