I can remember the frist time going from a 1.2 clio to a 2.0L clio and overtaking my dad in his rover 75 on the way back from the garage. It was a saturday been working all week and travelled down in the sun early morning to collect my new car, baring in mind i was 17 it was like winning the lotto.

Drove up in a slow and shitty clio 1.2 with 100,000 miles on the clock and leaking oil, and leaving in a 43,000 mile immaculate rs172. I just spent the whole of the summer night driving around towns with windows down, sunglasses on smiling like a massive dork!. Still smiling now tbh.

I can remember a lap in the passenger seat of jon_r's 172 cup at the 'ring in 2005

Tried to act all cool and relaxed (as you do...), but by christ did that feel quick. Made me realise what a car can do

My first drive of a 172 Cup, of any Renault ever in fact, was the long way home after it was delivered, brand spanking new, to me at my work.

I did almost 200 miles that night just to cover the 35 miles home.

I drove one as soon as they came up in the Renault showrooms. Took a girly mate, battered some eyelashes as if we was going to buy it and took it out for a boost (minus the boost of course) was muchos fun :)

First time I drove mine I was shaking with adrenaline which I've only had from racing my karts. Awesome little cars

my first Renaultsport experience was in GAZs 172 cup through tight back roads averaging about 80-90mph with baldy tyres n his love of the handbrake. Terrifying , but what a buzz.

lol!

The three things that really stood out for me on my first test drive were crap ride quality, a pleasing tendency to go where you point it and the oil tanker-esque turning circle.

The clio hasn't exactly blown my mind but it was by far the best driving 4 seater effort in my price range.

Not a cup experience but I remember at the end of April this year picking my car up with a 2ltr in place of the 1.4, being that everything was the same except I had around 80bhp extra lol. Was a great feeling, couldn't stop smiling all the way home.
