Cancelling print jobs

Does anyone know why it takes so long to cancel a print job? I have a HP psc2110 all in one and if I make a mistake and try to cancel the print job, the job just sits there in the dialog box saying it is deleting but it doesn't delete. The icon sits in the system tray with a question mark. I have rebooted the printer after looking at it for an hour but no change. The only solution I can come up with is a system resore.

This is my mum's prob not mine btw!

right , once u click print it spools the job to the printer , if at this point u click delete , the printer will have to print what data has allready been spooled to it before it will be removed from the list. If the printer hasnt started it and is busy with a previous job then it will delete it instantly.

gues you just have to be patient,

click cancel once itll say are u sure... say yes, then wait about 2-10mins , if its still there after that, then duno u`d have to reboot pc and turn printer off for 10secs

  As father and son....
HP printers can get stuck in purge print job loops. Had one at work that did just the same as what you've got, steps i went through were.

Disconnect USB cable at both ends.
Cycle Printer off - leave for 2 minutes.
Reconnect USB cable in a different port.
Reinstall the printer.
Check print queue.

At this point hte queue should be cleared as its technically a different printer port for queued jobs. If however its still got a job, PRinter -> Pause Printing -> Printer -> Purge Print Jobs then Unpause again.

Try stopping the print spooler and restarting the PC, control panel/administritave tools/services right clcik on print spooler and select stop, reboot pc.
