Cannot find one I like!

I've been looking for over a week now for a ph2 172. I really want one in Monaco blue with low miles. But the only one I can find locally, is at a dealers and he wants top money for it. Is there anywhere else I could be looking? Except the obvious, pistonheads, ebay, autotrader etc.

Majority of them are dogs that haven't been looked after. It will take a while to find a minter.

Belts done, service history, low miles in tip top condition??

If so set aside at least 2k

A whole week?! No way! lol - Seriously that is no time at all when looking for the perfect car.

My mate has been looking to the 'right' 350z for about 3 months now!

How much is "top money"?

I Paid £2350 for mine knowing that I had to spend an extra 400 on it. Still need to spend some time getting the wheels refurbed too.

Had Cambelt and Dephaser just done, FSH, Full MOT History, Most old tax discs and only 49k and in near mint condition. I still think it was a bargain.

Ask around the specialists like RS Tuning etc. they sometimes know of cars on the market. Take your time and find one that's been well looked after.

I've seen one for £2500 but my budget is £2000. I know I'll get one for that as I've seen a few low milers go for around £1700-1800 in the last few weeks just nothing near to where I am.

I've not had a car since September!
Still can't make my mind up what I want yes it annoying not having a car but I don't want something I won't be happy with!

Normally you wait for a minter :)

So you've been waiting a week for a low milage Monaco to come up locally for under £2k? Right oh.

One thing with these cars, buy on condition over milage, always.

If you're not prepared to travel for the right example how can you possibly expect what your looking for?

Been looking for 4 weeks now, driving me nuts! I've been using a mates van in that time while i look for one but hes asked for it back this weekend!

Why would I buy something I didn't want? Would you buy one in pink and brown 2 tone just because it was minty mint and done low miles? No! Ill find the one I want, I was just wondering if there was any more specialist forums or websites where they come up for sale

No one is suggesting that you should. It's just seems that for something as specific as what you're looking for, you may need to either a) broaden your horizons a little and search further afield, or b) up your budget.

Everyone's giving you advice but your not taking it.

A good condition 172 will be priced over £2000.

Yeah but you said you there were no cars near you... then someone suggested you should travel.... FLOL

I travelled nearly 400 miles to pick my car up then it broke down 130 miles from my house.. go on a road trip.

Searching further a field is all well and good on paper, but with fuel at £1.40 a litre, travelling 200 miles to view a car, to get there and find out its not as described. I simply came on here asking for places to look

So your advice is travel 400 miles to buy a nail that won't even make it home? Great!

What do you mean what? You won't be getting a decent Monaco blue 172 for under £2000.

The for sale section here is good; buying cars from forums tends to be a good things as it's easier to track the history.

If you were willing to compromise on colour, there is a lovely Flame Red one for sale currently on here for a smidge over £2k.

The guy that bought my old car came fr Ireland.
Had to fly to Manchester and a 4 hour ride on a train to me!

Sometimes you need to travel if you have a set I'm stone requirement or up your budget :)

I think you need to pay to look at cars for sale now.

Hopefully the OP will become a full member as buying a car from here is better than anywhere else.
