Cannot undo two screws on the discs

my drill is charging, but i dont think my drill will get enough power to take it off. lol

nono, i took the caliper off already.
Two screws are the only thing still hold the disc.

you can use a centre punch to knock the screws round - hammer on the edge of the screw so the punch does not slip then hammer it round with the centre punch :D

put the caliper back on, and put a screw driver in the vents of the disc against the caliper (to stop the disc rotating) and then try again

I tried getting my screws off the other week before i took the calliper off, Gave up because they wouldnt budge. Will have another go when its warmer lol!

Im thinking of dremeling a slot in the head next time and using a flat head screwdriver to get them out.

Thanks all the comments
The only thing i can do just try it tomorrow or ask the garage to do it for me lol

Will post some pics up after i change the discs and pads

i got the one side off the 172

threaded the other

used a brill to drill the head then hit with hammer and the thing shot off

need a new bolt now

flat screwdriver/sharp chisel and a hammer

just tap them round, easy

dont need to be replaced, wheel holds the discs on

impact driver or a centre punch to knock them round. they dont really serve much of a purpose so no need to replace them, the wheel holds them on.

I was wondering if they needed to be replaced, I got some new screws with the discs. If they fit ill wack em on. Good to know i dont definatly need them then?

nope
mainly there to stop the discs falling off on the assmebly line

i used a metal chisle to nock one of mine round to undo it i got some in the box with my brembro disks so i replaced them anyway

Are you removing them to replace the discs ? I was when i hit this problem. Solution - big angle grinder to remove the heads..... and some of the disc :)

mgoode- yes, i am removing them and replace new discs and pads on it, but very luckly today is raining lol

best bet is to get some more screws from the scrap yard, get a tap the same size. then drill out the old screws then run the tap through to clean out the bits stuck in the thread, job done
