Cant Be Arsed!

  Clio Sport 172
I pay a redculous amount of money £186 a month for insurance! Every month I have had the car something has gone wrong (cambelt, spark plugs, coil pack) and now my xenon light bulb has gone! Just rang r&s motors in saltash who quoted me £150. I am no way paying that just for a bulb. Should i sell?

  RB 200 Cup!
150 quid?

is it the bulb or the headlight computer - separate things so im told

bulbs are cheaper than that!

  RARE Unmolested Corsa sxi
if your that unhappy with it, fix the light and sell it. how come your insurance is soo high?

Don't see the point in paying £2.2K a year to drive a Clio - plus all your problems, fuel, tax. Mental!

That's Crazy expensive insurance!!

To compare...When I was 19 a had a rover 220 gsi turbo, no no claims and a fault claim on my record and I still paid £50 less a month than you!

The rover was group 17 with a heap of mods declared to!

Have you had a heap of claims or convictions or something??

dont forget postcodes make a massive difference.

i looked into getting a 172, im 22 and have been driving for 3 years as a named driver with no claims / points. yet it was still going to cost me £1850 as a named driver or £2350 in my own right and thats living in a low risk area. in the end i settled with something a lot cheaper and used brentacre as they allow any cosmetic mods. my insurance is only £450 with mods now

You can get the bulbs cheaper than that. I've got two spares as I got new ones when my xenons stopped working but it wasn't them. The bulbs seem to last forever, its probably the ballast unit thats gone. I got new ballasts for £125 each and fitted them myself. Walker Renault wanted £600 to replace both ballasts.

People always forget to say their location/ occupation in these threads.

Changing my job role has saved me a grand on insurance quotes previously.

How old are you mate? I'm a bricklayer and I pay £2600, and thats a ten month bonus accelerator policy. So would work out at £260 a month :-(

Wouldnt both lights be effected though?

Should've gone to Fluxsavers. I'm only paying £24 / month, on just 1 year NCD, with as many mods as I can throw at it.
Your car isn't the same model as his though is it ?? It's a mk1 1.2 for a start ??

True, but I'm really happy with my car and not pissing another £200 a month down the drain or moaning about it on a forum. Just pointing out the swings and roundabouts.

Will still only cost a good bit less than £40 / month when the 172 engine goes in.

yeah sell it man, get a smaller engine car, for sure.
yeah the xenon bulbs are expensive, try a brakers yard, or search the internet for replacement xenon bulbs
