I'm just worried about having holes drilled into my boot floor?

I've used the bolt with a little hook thing on the nearside off the boot for earthing my amp, do most people use this? I'll take a pic later in case you don't know what I'm talking about!

God damn...

Keeps cutting out. Basically the sub works for five seconds, then cuts out for five seconds, and just keeps doing this loop. Although it stays on for longer sometimes like twenty seconds or so. Any ideas?

I'll try turning the gain on the amp down tomorrow, although this is the same setup I had on my previous car. Failing that I guess it's a case of removing every connector and trying again until I find where the fault is!

Measure voltage across the amp terminals best bet is amp going into protection, due to low voltages. Crap amp though if it's cutting back in every 5 seconds. Check earth!!!!!

Done it! It's easy when you know how lol... I was poking through to the engine and my bro was looking out for it and grabbed it :star:

I was looking totally in the wrong place. I'm now boomtastic, just need to borrow some sticky stuff from work to stick the amp and sub down. How do other people stop them from moving around in the boot?

I stuck em down in my 206 and it ended up with the carpet getting ripped out :dapprove:

I use weight to stick mine down. Plus its wedged......

On a more serious note, my old sub only 1 cu ft box, was fixed down using bolts through the floor pan. ONLY SAFE WAY TO FIX A 20KG weight down IMO!

How do I check, and how do I fix low voltages?

I will check the earth, when I tried putting the bolt back on for some reason it wouldn't find the thread so I think I've fucked it tbh... where's is yours earthed?

I use the iso bar bolt to fix mine... i sanded it down completely though. And sprayed it all over in copper grease spray! I have circa 150 amps going through this.... you must be bare onto the chassis though, not the bar!
And just get a multimeter on it... from maplins £5 then put it on DC mode solid line with dotted line then put it on 20v on that mode and put it across the +ve and -ve terminals on the amp!

sounds like its your earth thats causing the amp to go into protect mode.

i too have my amp earthed on the isofix bar bolt. its a good earth but there is paint on it which needs to be removed. i took the isofix bar out then used a sanding attatchment on a drill to sand paint away from the floor around the bolt hole. then sand the paint off the isofix bar on both sides then you can re-mount it in the boot and connect your earth. a good healping of grease will stop it rusting as said above.

Yup... it's the bar that has a couple of loop things through it. In the boot right at the back just behind the rear seats. It's covered by a plastic moulded piece. Pull that out then this will expose the bar. I'd personally remove the bar, ( 2x torx and hexagonal) bolts. Then sand down onto the bare chassis, and fit the earth around this!!!
If desired put the bar back in. No-one really keeps theres, as it adds weight. But when you're trawling a sub round who cares anyway. I just keep mine out fro easy acess to these bolts. THEY ARE NORMALLY VERY TIGHT though. I WD40 mine everytime i move them!
