CAR COVERS???

  Vectra 1.9 CDTi SRi 150
Can anyone recommend a decent car cover that will fit a 172. It needs to be waterproof/breathable and have a protective liner. I don't have a garage and would like the car protected from the elements as it stands during the week and for longer when the weather is bad.

I've got one for my vee,
It's from a company called specialized, they advertise in the back of evo mag, it cost around £200.00 iirc. It fits the car perfectly (I know it's for a vee - but you get the idea)

Pic of it

It was included with the sale when I bought it:)

(before anyone comments on car covers etc, i've been using one for years with no problems at all, I know how & when to use them)

Thanks for all the info guys, I will need to do more research as my rear spoiler may affect which type I can use, as it is raised at the rear.

I live in the centre of town and would park my car on the side of the road. Some gimp is likely to key it and so I had the idea of a car cover.

Instead of buying one i was going to make it myself. Kevlar sheeting on the outside (not as expensive as one thinks) then a foam insert and on the inside a lambs wool or towelling.

The main problem trying to make one yourself is they need to breathable, not sure the above would be.

I'm struggling to find one that is a good fit unless I pay £200....then I will exet it to fit like a glove...lol

The breathable covers that they sell in Halfords have served me well for the last year and a half.

If you buy a completely waterproof cover then you can only keep it on the car for 2-3 days as it'll get moisture underneath.

If you want it on the car for longer, then you'll need a breathable car cover. It'll protect the car from the elements but will allow any moisture under the cover to evaporate through it.

As for scratches, as long as the car is cleaned and no dirt is on the bodywork, it'll be fime. I've kept my Megane covered for up to a month and its still spotless!! :D

Also for fitting onto the car, although some of them may not be taylor made, they can be secured with elastic straps so shouldn't be a problem. Only issue I've had is when its an especially windy day, gotta keep and eye on the corners blowing up.

I would use mine to deter people from lifting up the cover and "keying" the paintwork. I want to get a sensitive alarm which would sound if someone was to try and lift up the cover
