Car cutting out/ fuel related??

Hi looking for any info if possible.

Track car related

Was at knockhill Monday night. And on the same corner several times the car cut out on me.

Going up the main straight, brake to take duffis dip which is a steep down hill right hand turn which then bends left once levelled out.

Once taking the left the car would flash the hazards, service light on and loose all drive. I would roll onto the grass and it would come to a stop and when attempting to restart It would just turn over but not start. (As if no fuel). 2-3mins later car comes back to life and drive as it would normal. As if nothing happened. Full throttle the lot.

Was always the same corner...

Any help would be much appreciated

Cheers!

E J AND G are all the same 20amp there the ones that give problems you can get them new off eBay, J being the fuel you can swoop them around.

Sounds similar to the issue i'm having mate.

Completely fine on full throttle, fine on right corners, but cuts out on left handers unless you're going so slow you have no lean.

We've tested everything mechanical. Injectors, leads, coil, plugs, fuel rail. All seem to work fine. Had the fuel pump out for inspection.

We are scratching our heads a little too. Not looked into relays yet though.

I played with the 15amp fuse that's to do with injection/ ignition under the bonnet (fuse 5 in the pics above) and removed from fuse holder and crimped the cables onto the fuse direct and it ran fine for about 40mins on and off track but done it again 15mins from the end of night.

Thinking it's more electrical trip related than a mechanical part failing.

I agree. Going to have a play around with electrics with graham tonight and see if we get anywhere.

Problem is, it's hard to replicate on track conditions. Seemed fine on the road.

My original issue was with the static noise test revving. It kept stuttering when above 4k rpm. So that'll probably be the first test when playing with wires.

Check the small black relays behind the fuse box, gave intermittent problems on the wife's ph1.
Tend to get a bit green on the connections.

  dan's cast offs.
There's a few things it could be and wouldn't of suggested uch apart from the hazards as they can do odd things when they are on the way out.

I'd say to check loom around top of gearbox as well.

Had a play about today with some of the relays and fuses.

This first one (purple) was in position A. That was the worst looking one. The rest came out and looked clean.

Swapped G and J and also swapped B and D. See if that does anything for now. Will order up new one and replace just to rule them out.

Will get in behind the dash tomorrow Also going to clean up gearbox earth see if that caused bad connection

  dan's cast offs.
if the pins on the relay are that bad the holder will be worse, strip it out and clean it up. bit of decent wheel acid and then dunk in some water with bicarb in to neutalise it.

Yet to try the car out. Think I need to do a few changes and go to the track and test. As I can't simulate the fault on the road
These were the relays I replaced in the wife's phase 1. I cleaned up the terminals too! Been fine ever since! Cost me £63 a year ago!

Could it be pulling the loom when the engine is leaning hard on its mounts ?

Might be tugging at the loom.

Jon

Not had a chance to test it yet. Need to take it to the track and try my luck I think. You had any luck?

Not yet no mate, I've taken the car to a specialist now as we've tried as much as we can on the drive etc. So @AlexW is looking after it at Engine Dynamics and I believe they are going to start looking at it towards the end of the week.
