Car not on database

  RenaultSport clio 172 mk2
I was going to Cheam Motors (Subaru) in Ewell village saturday and me and Amanda went to Wilsons Renault,Epsom whilst we were there.

I tried to get some bits for her car but they stated that her car was on the Renault database. We couldn't give them the VIN number as we were in my car at the time. Has anyone else had this?

We found out during her service with Mike @ Ren-tech that her car does not have the Clio Sport dial kit too.:S Which is annoying. Can some kind soul post a pic of the Sport dials she should have please?

Would her car have been an import by Renault Uk for the previous owner etc?

Sounds probable that its an import . How old is it ? With imports you still get 3 years warranty and AA assistance , just a simple phone call with your details and its done .

it's a 52 plate 2002. We bought it just after the warranty ran out from an independent dealer.

I feel guilty as i should have done more research prior to buying it.

Where would the Renault imports come from? Portugal, Malta etc?

Do you think it's worth asking Renault to change the dial kit to UK spec? Silly I know but it;s annoying me know me than Amanda. hehe

If its right hand drive , and this is according to Renault UK , they are usually destined for the UK or Cyprus . But right hand drives can be purchased from Dutch dealerships were the warranty would only be 12 months .

Never heard of em havin different dials tho , maybe it's an aftermarket kit ??

mines a euro import and the only differences I can see is that there is a lock on the passenger door not the drivers door and it had no alarm as standard

The difference with imports are:

No locking wheel nuts
No Cobra alarm so usually no alarm or a different one
No window etching for the Vehicle Security register

The lock only being on one side is the same for all Clios after a certain date. Late 2003 I think.

Even if it is an import Renault should still have the VIN on the system and be able to identify which country it was headed for orignally.

It doesn't really matter which country it was destined for, EU or not, as it's warranty would be up now anyway.

A bad pic of the dials: http://www.rapidpants.com/images/cars/RSClio172/clio-07-big.jpg

Renault UK won't have the VIN number on their system if its a " new " european vehicle .
When you buy it new , you should ring Renault UK and supply them with the VIN number so they can put it on their system then you get the 3 year warranty , AA assistance depending when the vehicle came into the country .

My new 182 had been in the country for 3 months so i got 33 months warranty and AA assistance .

The dials are the same mph / kmh as UK models , just wondered why he said his dials were different , if we could see a pic it might help .
