Car running like a bag of sh*t, engine light flashing.

I've had my car plugged into an RStuner and these are the faults;

ECM rear 02 heater fault (memory)
ECM rear 02 heater fault on activation (present)
ECM electronic throttle control limit aquired (not a fault) (present)

I run a decat so only one lambda sensor. So I've replaced the lambda twice now with second hand sensors known to be working and the problems still there.

The car basically has no power, sounds like a subaru, lots of spluttering and back firing and wanting to cut out at junctions.

Alot of people have suggested plugs/leads and coilpack but would the RStuner not show these faults?

Any help appretiated.

if the car is misfiring, just unplug one injector at a time to see if the car runs worse... If it runs the same while one is unplagged, chances are, thats the injector at fault... swap that injector with another injector and see if the misfire moves... if it moves you've found your fault, if not then move on to checking HT leads/coil pack

Thanks for the reply. Do most garages have this equipment or is it a Renault/specialist job?

Personally go to a specialist and pay the 30 or so quid to get live faults rather than fault codes

That's what I did when I had an injector fault

Thanks for that. Very helpful I'll give this a try tomorrow.

I'll get it on a live diagnostics if the problems still there.

Yeah I know Dean. Had it's 12k service there when I first got it. Just shy of £200 lol.

I'll drop that hammerite round for you this week. You can have a laugh at my car, I've put the standard suspension on whilst I sell my AST's (not a good look on 15's)

£200 thats a bargain lol, so your car is a high rider on 15's ? you removed the track rear bumper to or is that still on

Just had it on a snap on diagnostics and showed these faults:

285 fast fan control short circuit to ground.
285 fast fan control open circuit.
285 fast fan control.

So assuming a wiring fault. After a quick look in the engine bay I noticed the wire from the brake master cylinder to the ECU had come loose and was very close to the exhaust manifold.

As a result its melted all the conduit and wires inside. Gonna order a new one off wests renault, hope this solves it.

Following on from this; I've replaced the melted wire and original fault still persists.

The car is off the road atm as its undrivable like this. Today I have replaced the coilpack and still no better. I have new plugs to fit at the weekend.

I've checked the ecu plug/connector for moisture/corossion and its fine.

Basically only the above codes are stored but they are not showing as known codes on autodata.

If anyone can help or suggest any other possible things I can check that would be appretiated.

Snap-On code readers of old, aka "Bricks", always used there own code system that had no cross reference to actual generic "P" codes... in short, they're useless! I also suspect the codes above are also about as much use as a chocolate fire guard.

You really need the car looking at by someone with decent kit and who knows what they're looking at with the live data feeds to finger this issue.
