Car wont start :(

Knew this time would come eventually, upon starting the past few days the cars sounded very un healthy. It will attempt to start but then bog down about 4 -5 times then finally fire up.

This morning however it did the same about 6 times but now upon turning the key it will just make a clicking noise, headunit and everything will still turn on.

Does anyone know if this is battery related or the starter motor? Im thinking that if its due to the cold and it only happens the first time I start the car in the day (After its been sitting for around 10 hours) then it could be the battery is knackered due to age and the weather?

Havent been able to get jump leads on it yet to try and start it.

Check the voltage on the battery.

As Matt said check battery voltage first.

If this read ok then try bump starting car.if can will car with a bump start i'd say the starter has gone

That seemed to me to be a damn good video. Tells you why you need to check the voltage when trying to start the car too, as a duff battery can still read say a healthy 12.6V with no load but go down to next to nothing under load

Was the battery that was knackered in the end, £35 later and the car works perfectly thanks for the help
