carbon canister or dephaser pulley

i know my carbon canister was making the tapping noise but recently i can hear a quiet tapping(different to before) when outside the car and if i lift the bonnet its coming form the front drivers side definately not the engine is it still the canister?

snormally if its the dephaser the noise goes away after 1800rpm i beleive
