Castle Combe Action Days

I’m trying to be organised for once in my life (rare, I know) and actually plan ahead for some track time this year rather than panic-booking the night before and turning up with half a tank and questionable brake pads.

So… who’s planning on hitting any of the Castle Combe Action Days this year? 👀

2026 ACTION DAY DATES

Saturday, 28 March: Spring Action Day
Saturday, 18 July: Summer Action Day
Saturday, 5 Sept: Performance Action Day
Saturday, 24 October: Halloween Action Day

I’m keen to get the Clio out and actually use it for what Renault intended – i.e. being driven like it owes me money around Combe rather than just polishing it and taking moody sunset photos for instagram or whatever kids do these days!! 😂

If there’s enough interest we could perhaps look at sorting a stand? - At the very least coordinate so we’re not all parked three counties apart.

Thoughts?

For me it’s an excuse to get out and enjoy to variety of cars then rock up.

If you are plan to go out on track then you definitely have to watch out, as your say there are always the odd “Watch this!” Have a go hero’s about that quickly run out of talent.

Don't suppose you were at Castle Combe last year in the Scooby wagon were you?

I was yes, last year I took my WRX wagon everywhere and loved it.

Castle Combe is my local circuit being only a few miles away so I do tent to frequent that particular track fairly often. I much prefer the private days run by the likes of gold track and others.

I do get along to the action days but mostly to go car watching and the odd lap here and there but am very cautious of spotty teens in German rear wheel drive cars.

The Nurburgring was a bit of a bucket list trip for me last year and have to say absolutely loved it, it’s a real petrol heads dream even if you don’t fancy going out on track.

This year is all is all about the 182 and getting it as reliable as possible to enjoy throughout the summer.

Do you remember having a session with a green VX220? And maybe running out of brakes and going right over the chicane 😂
I do, that definitely happened.

I think that was the spring action day from memory. Certainly found the limit of the standard WRX callipers and the vintage brake fluid - No brakes coming into the second chicane so was left no option other than to escape the other side through the run off.

Luckily fairly familiar with the track otherwise could have ended a little differently.

Shame really as you were absolutely dicking the guy in the VX220 weren't you ;)

If it was the day I'm thinking of it wasn't an action day just a track day. I had a good 15mins of balls out chasing a wrx wagon (which I think is you!), was going really well and I was wondering what brakes it had as I couldn't believe it was still stopping then suddenly it was going straight on when it should have been making a turn 😂

If it was you, it was going really well!

I remember the incident well may not have been an Action day though.

It was the second chicane just before the pit lane, I couldn’t say what other cars where on track at the time.

You don’t see many Scoobys at Combe, one of the main reasons for getting a Clio was seeing the amount out on track - I thought to myself that many people can’t be wrong.

This is the 182 I’ll be about in this year, you can probably see where I’ve taken inspiration from for the colour scheme 😂

Come and say hello if you see me about again though 👍🏻

I’d love to see the old girl again at a track day mate! I was at Coombe with Flob in my Black Cayman. We will likely be back there at some point this year id guess. Be great for you to join us

I would be worried that you may think that I’ve ruined it. Certainly in better shape than when I picked it up though I promise!!

Just re-painted the K brace - I apologise in advance for the colour choice but I’m sure you can guess….

Thought this looked familiar, sorry if we at all influenced you to join the forum! Nice to see you've got @Horatio McAllister 's old clio too.

Wagon was going well at Combe. If you want in on the CS invitational days just drop us a message. Always space for those with good track etiquette 👍
