Cat - manifold joint

Just fitted a manifold back prospeed system on the 182. All is good apart from the joint at the cat it's leaking slightly. Should there be a gasket or just use more paste?

Cheers need to get it sorted this week lights came on. Was thinking putting more paste on it till I get the kit? Should be ok

best bet is go to your local quick fit. same donut (cat mani washer) as in pug 306's i think. quite common. i call in at quickfit and they gave me one for free! beats renault and k-tec prices.

^^ yeah when going to Renault you'll be paying for a set of bolts too i believe, 35pounds !? :S

Hm. This might explain why I had to go and buy 2 bolts. f**king thing. So does the washer/gasket go between the 2 and then 2 spring bolts?

The spring bolts are essential, unless you want your system vibrating loose.

The gasket goes inbetween the manifold flange and the cat 'spout'.
The bolts are then built up with the cup on first, pushed through the flange. Then the metal washer, fibre washer, spring, cap and finally the nut.

Did you not remove the old ones before fitting the system?

Yes but they sheared off as soon as I touched it with a socket. Have ordered a kit of nw performance.
The engine management/emmisions light has came on also. Must be because of the leaky joint. All the other joints are tight.

A leaky joint wouldn't bring on the EML.
Did you say you've fitted a manifold back system, meaning the cat is now a decat?

Yes, 100 cell cats are off road use only.
The 182 comes with a 200 cell cat which is as low as you can go to stay within the emissions regulations.
