CD changer. Arhhh!

Still having issues. First bracket was wrong one, now having problems with this one. It's the right shape for the holes and screw to fix to the car but I don't have any way of securing the changer to it. Does it need additional brackets or something?

And the old one on the right - this one has flat angled pieces at the side - perfect for screwing into the changer holes, but the wrong bracket!

Yes, that's all fine fitting it in the car. I want to know how to fix the changer to the bracket.

Can't really help you really because mine was fitted onto the bracket when I bought it and it means taking it all out otherwise.

have you got a pic of the underside of the changer?

*edit* Maybe you have the newer bracket (for your car) with an older style changer. I think they changed in 2005 mate!
Have you bought them separately?

when i fitted the changer to my 182, the bracket was quite simple... square shaped with the 4 legs sticking out to screw to the car.

Cutting a long story short - bought the changer and 4-pronged bracket from someone off here. Bracket turned out to be wrong. Someone offered me a new bracket which they ordered and this is the three pronged one, wrong changer holder! I probably have an early changer and later bracket??

I'm going to Renault tomorrow - what shall I ask for? If I go on the age of my car it's a late one so will probably end up with the same bracket again!

Is it worth popping into B&Q tomorrow for a £3 piece of timber/plastic and then making bit that screws onto the side of the changer?

Sounds silly but I want everything OEM. Had too much 'homemade' stuff in previous cars and want to stay away from it. Also someone mentioned the brackets where about £9ish from a dealer so for the hassle it might be worth it (ignoring the so-far-failed attempts at sorting it out)

Fair enough! I was going on the fact that a bracket would probably be one of those randomly small, yet hugely priced spare parts that Renault just love doing ;)

That's what I thought. This price is so far unconfirmed...... be good if it's correct though. :) (again ignoring the two defunct brackets I have )

Right, in 2005 Renault changed the audio system, meaning that pre 2005 equipment will not work in 2005+ models. Now I suspect that the changer is the wrong one for your bracket, which incidentally is the correct one for your car. Hence the other bracket fitting the changer but not your car. Does the changer even work with your HU? ;)

Not even tried it yet TBH. Was thinking logically (or not) and getting all the parts ready. My car is a '55 so will an earlier changer not work with it? The headunit looks exactly the same as a friends '53 Dynamic.

Your HU will say Update list on it, your friends will say Tuner list on it. AFAIK the changer may not work with your HU due to a different lead been required, but please don't quote me on that. I'd try it tomorrow before I persue the brackets any further.

I will do. Really appreciate your help with this as I've been completely clueless there where several different stereos etc. :)

No worries :)

Do you have a part number for the bracket and changer? I've got them up on dialogys now.

82 00 082 120 BRACKET CD
82 00 002 589 RADIO SET (changer)

Changer looks like it's from a 172 mate as that's what dialogys is showing it up as.
As for the bracket, you say it fits ok? Do you know what the other bracket in the photo is from?

I have no idea - I bought the bracket from here who had it fitted under the drivers seat with screws mounting it to the floor - no idea what is was originally from, although I thought it'd be a straight OEM fit.

Ok, well dialogys doesn't extend to the 182's as it's a 2003 version so as your changer is showing up on that I think it's from an earlier model unfortunately.
First step for me would be trying it tomorrow mate, just to make sure :)

Just a thought...have you tried the 'wrong' bracket under the drivers seat? I know the changer is designed to replace the tray under the passenger seat but still, you never know! :)

Doesn't fit and requires "seat removal and drilling" so won't be using that.

Just got back from Renault.

As said previously the stereo systems were changed slightly around the age of my car. The only changer bracket they have listed against my car is the one I already have! On the screen it showed the brackets with hook bits and the changer had matching clips pre-attached to it. These clips are only available as part of the £200odd changer.

The guy said he couldn't look up other Clio brackets for some reason or another (I did insist but was refused). So now I need the part number for the 3-pronged bracket with the flat side-mountings. Could someone have a look on there's for me? I'd be very greatful as it's getting beyond a joke now.

Hi mate

So the problem is now that you need the side 'brackets' that attach the changer to your bracket? Am I understanding that correctly?

Da

Well ,as you said above they're shown on dialogys as part of the changer part number at £170 odd plus VAT. :( They aren't a separate part so I think you'll struggle mate unless you buy a faulty changer cheap with them still attached.

I'm kind of hoping someone can help with checking the part number on their changer brackets.

As said above I could just give the registration of an older 182 to generate a different part / diagram but I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable with giving false info to Renault. Is there anyone on here who works in Renault Parts?

Incidentally, my stereo is an Update one and it worked fine with the stereo, and also has the same connection plugs at the back.

al iv got a changer in the 1.4 clio if you want i can take it out so u can look at how its mounted / try and help you fit yours

What will this achieve mate? Why are you looking for a different part number? The two you have listed previously have been proved correct for you car?

There's a few yeah, sure they'll be along to help soon :)

that's good to hear, least Renault didn't change everything! :)
