CD changer question...

On a Ph1 172 with standard HU and standard alpine cd changer.

If you do not have a cassette in the changer, are you still able to select it as a source?

Just tried hooking up the one that I have, and am getting nothing, although this may be because I don't have a cassette?

Anybody in or around Norwich have a cassette I could try before I buy one from Renault?

I don't know about your set up, but it's fairly typical that a head unit won't permit selection of a cd changer as a source if it isn't loaded with the cassette/caddy/magazine.
