Center of dash

On a mk 2 ph1 172, do you have to take the hole dash out to take the silver bit where the heaters are.

you cant take the silver bit out it is plastic welded in.

I ve been told that it can come out, But maybe not then.

It can if you melt the plastic weld off as its also screwed in. You have to remove the upper and lower dash to get it out though

I have replaced mine, it can come out but is a faff.......its not impossible.. dash has to come off.....underside stakes are about a cm square. a soldering iron will reomve them.....the replacement can be solder'd back in with ease.....just keep a door open the fumes will sting your eyes as the plastic is abs.

How long does it take to get all the dash out is it a big job, cheers for the replys.

If you can do it without removing the bottom dash the top one comes off in about 10 minutes. Theres a guide for it somewhere.

Yer i found the guide for the top dash, is it possible to do with out removing the bottom dash would make it alot easier.
